and repeated Tuesdaynights from 21-23 hrs. local Dutch time, to be followed on the Internet www.radiocentraal.com
Some highlights on our summervacation trip were the Museum Insel at HONBROIG near Dusseldorf (wonderfully Dada architecture in a spacious natural park environment) and the kurort day we devoted to the oldest and best-restaurated in the whole of Europe: Thermen Palais in Bad Wildbad. Both will be reported upon later in another section of this weblogbook.
Driving our car through Germany a colleague-programme related to Radio From Beyond in Germany turned out to be called very appropriately: Radio Regenbogen and on French territory a keen interest was manifested on regional radiostations to JAZZ music especially, necessarily defining JAZZ music in its broadest post-modern sense of many branches sprouting out of the solemn tree called "Jazz" planted by Louis Armstrong and cultivated in many peculiar ways by old heroes like Duke Ellington (swing), Miles Davis (kind of blues), Dinah Washington and Billie Holliday (ladies singin' the intimate blues to you) upto modern versions of Chuck Berry's rock'n roll jazz ("Never Can't Tell') and Reggae-bummers like Sly Stone and Love as well as an assortment of Soul-kickers like Jamie Cullum, Joss Stone, Nina Simone and James Brown c.s.. Under the curious collection title of "Frequence Jazz"....
RWCentraal's SATURnightshow coming Sat. August 26 will draw upon that musical line across some further frontiers as Radio From Beyond JAZZ Frequencies (Radio van Verre JazzFrequenties), taking beautifull extrapolations from contemporary popmusic in Italy, Ethiopia, France, Mali, the Cameroons, England, the US ànd the Netherlands into all kinds of frequencies of Jazzy styles. Our postmodern Jazz Festivals are on and off this month in many cities and towns of the Netherlands (Tilburg, Den Haag, Nijmegen, Nuenen) and nobody was criticizing something of an old-fashioned or retro-conservative trend in this new apearance (like there are still quite a few "Dixieland Jazz" festivals elsewhere at other times of the year.
Check it out this Saturday Night August 26
on www.radiocentraal.com
and let's meet in a fresh ocean of jazz styles around Europe, maybe the globe....
